ABBOTT #3 / Writer: Saladin Ahmed / Artist: Sami Kiyelä / Colorist: Jason Wordie / Letterer: Jim Campbell / Publisher: BOOM! Studios / Release Date: March 28, 2018

You ever just ask yourself how could your day possibly get any worst? Well, I’m sure Elena wasn’t expecting a monster chasing after her. Abbott #3 is here and things just seem to be tumbling downhill for Elena in this issue. First thing though, I have to say how great it is seeing how she is quick to react when seeing something that looks like its trying to kill her. Even though she doesn’t completely understand what’s going on. She’s always able to put on a brave face and do whatever it takes to make sure she doesn’t get hurt. Even after waking up from a terrible evening, she’s eager to get right back to work to continue the story that she’s been working on. I don’t think enough can be said about Elena. She keeps showing why she deserves to be in the spot that she is at her job and you can easily believe that she’s perfectly capable of getting her job done. We get another run in with her boss Fred. She knows something happened to Elena and is very blunt on how much he cares for her safety. I always enjoy the boss who comes off strong like this. In a distance he may seem crude, but when you listen to him, you can tell how much he worries. Elena seems to be coming more to grips with what’s happening to her and with what she’s been saying. Small pieces of the story are finally coming together its always one thing after another that keeps trying to keep her down. By then end, you’ll wonder what her next move will be as things just aren’t going her way ever since she took this story. The investigative reporting scenarios continue to be interesting as it leads you in to wanting to know more and why these murders are happening. The supernatural and horror elements blends really well and even though Elena isn’t sure what she’s seeing anymore, she refuses to let these things scare her off.

The stories pacing is staying steady as we inch closer to figuring out who and why these things are happening. Elena with everything against her never seems afraid to step back. The writing continues to draw you in with these characters along with the great art that compliments its tone and setting. Abbott continues on being a top tier series that shouldn’t be missed.

Verdict: 4 out of 5
